Measurements Your Dog Needs to Fit In this Muzzle:
Nose Length: 3.25-4.25 inches - DO NOT ADD LENGTH, a bit of extra room is accounted for. Go by the actual length of your dog’s nose as measured according to our Measurement Guide.
Snout Width: 2.5-3.5 inches - This size is narrow in the front; built for shepherd type faces.
Cheek Width: 4.5-5.5 inches - If your dog is on the narrower side of this spectrum, you may need to narrow the wire of the muzzle when you receive it for the right fit. This is not difficult; the easiest way to do so is by putting it on the ground and stepping on the cheek bars carefully, then flip the muzzle and do the same to the other side, so it’s symmetrical. You may also be strong enough to simply push the bars together with your hands. The goal is to have about .25-.5” between your dog’s cheeks and the cheek bars, so they’re not squishing into your dog’s face but aren’t excessively wide on them either.
Full Pant Height: 5.5-6 inches - The muzzle gives about 6” of height, so if your dog uses less than 5.5” of open mouth height it will likely be uncomfortably large on them.
Head Length (Tip of Nose to Base of Ear): 7.5 inches or longer - if the cheek bars on the muzzle are too long (ie. if your dog’s head length measurement is shorter than 7.5”), the muzzle strap may push into their ears uncomfortably, and/or would not fit securely and be too easy to slip off.
Nose to Neck Length: 4.75 inches or longer - If your dog’s nose to neck measurement is shorter than 4.75”, this muzzle will fit incorrectly and uncomfortably! Please double check this measurement!
